Tuning Developments Stage 1+ Performance Tuning Package for the MK3 Ford Focus ST 250 2012-on with 2.0 Ecoboost engine.
Tuning Developments have developed this package on our own MK3 Ford Focus ST 250 Ecoboost, having picked up the vehicle in standard form; we set about getting some baseline runs of the car on our in-house Dyno Dynamics 4WD dyno. The results were as expected, making 256hp and 260 lb.ft torque. A promising start.
We then set about looking to make improvements. We have fabricated our own in house turbo back exhaust system which is available in super resonated, resonated and non resonated variables. Our particular vehicle uses the super resonated system for quieter exhaust volume when cruising and on the motorway and so forth, yet gives off a nice rumble when you start pressing on the throttle. We decided to use 3” tube throughout the system as to aid air flow as much as is possible. This is also future proofing the exhaust should much higher power outputs be a consideration for the future.
Along with this we have found that the standard airbox/air intake system is the next restriction so we set about designing our own intake kit, we set on our Cold Air Intake which uses a High Flow K&N filter with our own custom cold air box system which allows for the factory maf sensor to bolt directly onto to keep for a simple and clean install with no CEL lights or running problems.
Using the excellent ECUTeK tuning suite, we then set about tuning the car on the dyno to see what improves we could make with the new, reworked exhaust system and cold air intake CAI kit. Using the Racerom Technology allowing for switchable maps, superb boost and torque control and all the usual Racerom features including Launch Control, Flat Foot Shifting, Autoblip Downshifting and much more!
Our Stage 1+ remap brought power up from 256hp upto 290-300hp as peak increases. However throughout the mid range we’re actually seeing an increase of 60hp over the standard car! Torque figures are up from 260lb.ft to a amazing 370lb.ft which really does transform the drive of the MK3 Ford Focus ST250. Dyno graphs below show the vast power output difference from the standard car to the Tuning Developments Stage 1+ Package trim.
